FAQ
The same questions keep coming back, so we collected them here: about a CMS, about price, about what happens to your data. Not finding yours? Write or call — there is no chatbot in between.

01 What is a CMS, and do I need one?
A CMS is the back of your website: the place where you manage text, photos and pages yourself, without touching a line of code. If something changes regularly — news, a menu, a calendar, prices — you want one. If your site stands still after launch, you are paying for an engine nobody starts. -
02 How long does a website project take?
A small site: a few weeks. A site with custom work or a webshop: a few months. Honestly though, the schedule rarely depends on us. In nine out of ten projects we are waiting for text and photos.Read the full answer -
03 Do you work with WordPress?
Rarely, and never out of habit. We prefer to build with Kirby: no database, content in plain files, little to update and nothing you don’t need. For applications we write custom code. Already have a WordPress site that simply has to keep running? We are happy to look after it — we still maintain a few. -
04 What does a website cost with you?
We sell project prices, not hours. What it costs depends on what is in it: a five-page site is a different story from a webshop wired into your accounting. We work it out up front and put it in a quote you can read without a dictionary.Read the full answer -
05 Do you use AI?
Yes, every day, and we are not coy about it. AI types faster than we do. But typing was never the real work: the real work is understanding what you need, spotting a bad idea in time, and deciding what we are not going to build.Read the full answer -
06 Do you handle hosting and maintenance too?
Yes, and it is not an afterthought. We host the sites we build ourselves, in Belgium, with daily backups, certificates and updates we keep an eye on. Nothing ties you down: if you want to leave, you take your site with you.Read the full answer -
07 Why is there no cookie banner on this site?
Because we don’t collect anything we would have to ask your permission for. No tracking pixels, no advertising profiles, fonts on our own server. Someone looking at a chip shop’s menu does not need an ad profile.Read the full answer -
08 Are your sites accessible?
We build with semantic HTML, sufficient contrast, visible focus, keyboard navigation and alt text on images as a matter of course — WCAG 2.1 level AA as the guideline. A site that doesn’t work with a keyboard doesn’t work for someone with a broken mouse either. If you fall under the European Accessibility Act, we have an external audit done: that is the only way to be sure. -
09 Can you build multilingual sites?
Yes, and more often than you would think. Kirby has multilingual support built in: one file per language per page, so translating does not mean building the structure twice. We have made sites in two, three, five and seven languages — from Dutch and French to Greek.Read the full answer -
10 What happens to my data if I stop?
It all stays yours. On a Kirby site your content lives in plain text files, so an export is no more than a copy of a folder. If you stop, you take the code, the content and the images with you, with no exit fee. And we collect as little as possible anyway: no trackers, no cookie banner theatre. -
11 What don’t you do?
We are not a marketing agency. We don’t run your social media, we don’t sell an SEO subscription where every month brings the same report with a different number, and we don’t build apps for the App Store. We make websites, webshops and web applications — and we keep them running.Read the full answer
