Why is there no cookie banner on this site?
Because we don’t collect anything we would have to ask your permission for. No tracking pixels, no advertising profiles, fonts on our own server. Someone looking at a chip shop’s menu does not need an ad profile.
That banner isn’t consent
You know the one: Accept all, Reject, Preferences, 183 partners. Everyone clicks whatever makes the window disappear fastest. Calling that consent is a stretch.
Our question is a different one: why are we collecting this data at all? Usually the answer is “because we can”. Then we don’t. If you do want to know how many people come by, we set up privacy-friendly analytics — numbers without personal profiles.
There is a bonus
Fewer scripts make a lighter site. It loads faster, breaks less often and uses less energy. We are not going to claim that saves the planet — one website doesn’t. But it adds up, especially multiplied by a few billion pages.
