Dog and horse races are so 2015. That’s why last weekend we spent our day at the duck race. A duck race, you say? Yes. Thousands of yellow rubber ducks, one river, and a Volkswagen for the winner.

Racing, but with rubber ducks

A duck race is a charity classic: thousands of little rubber ducks are set loose to race one another, usually on a river in the middle of a city. This edition floated down the Leie in Ghent, organised by Round Table. Only the second time, and already a big success.

The stakes were high: the owner of the winning duck drove home in a brand-new Volkswagen. The proceeds went to several charities in Ghent.

What we brought to the table

Major Tom sponsored the Duck Race once again, and not just with our logo on the big screen. We secured the domain name duckrace.gent and the hosting, built a mini-website to promote the event and, above all, a web shop where you could buy and register your yellow rubber duck online. On top of that we set up a mailing list and sent out the newsletters.
